Flight Out

It was on this day ToTut turned three months old and had his first aeroplane trip. First overseas trip for me. Family members and friends gathered to see us off. Hugs, handshakes and more hugs were exchanged. Totut was passed around after being fed mashed kaukau (sweet potato) by bubu-tutu (grandmother). I was excited of what laid before me yet sad to leave home.
The flight to Narita International Airport,Japan took six hours. It was a comforatble flight.Totut was put in the baby crib provided by the flight attendant and slept through out the flight. Sleep could not over come me and found the movie boring to watch. Music kept me mentally occupied for awhile. Finally, i saw faint lights ahead and looked out the window and knew it was raining. Thunder struck followed by lightning. Just few minutes away from landing we felt the aeroplane experiencing jerky movements. The fight attendants advised us to keep calm. ToTut was removed from the crib and strapped to my lap. I could feel his little fingers pulling tightly on my blouse. All kind of crazy thoughts came zooming in my head.
We finally landed to everyones relief after three failed attempts. Yeah, that was one scary flight.
Collected our luggage and headed outside where winter welcomed us. Boy was it cold. Lucky we had warm cloths on. By 10 pm, we were driven to the nearby hotel and spent the night there.
